Automation is a fast growing market in just about every aspect of commerce. You have home automation where you’re able to have devices in your home automatically turn on or off or self set itself based on sensors or pre-programmed settings.
Imagine having more free time. How about more freedom to do things that you really like doing? Imagine being able to do less of what you currently do and get paid the same or more for it. That’s what we’re going to be talking about in this article and how you can do the same right now for your business.
To much surprise, automation is not a new thing. In fact, it’s been around for a long time. In business, Ray Croc, the re-inventor of McDonald’s built systems to automate his business so that he was not doing all of the work but the systems followed by employees did the work. Although he died consumed with building upon and systemizing his systems, Croc was the pioneer to a lot of the fast food and business models we see today.
Amazon is a perfect example of automation at its best with revenues of $30+ billion/ year. With the use of databases, programming languages and a monster system that takes online orders and send them to the corresponding warehouses for delivery.
I took a job at Denny’s to see what systemization looked like for major restaurant corporations with extensive 3-4 month training both online and hands on. The Brand Standards alone is about 3-4 inches thick. Then you got the other manuals for recipes, prep, front of the house, back of the house, management, employee handbooks, etc… with a minimum of 1-2 inches in width. Systemization is designed to be as simple as possible so that anyone should be able to come in and learn the position without having to do any major job training skills.
Think about your current operation or business. What is one thing that you know for sure can be done without your being present? And another? And another?
In my catering business, on my website, I have copy that educates, pre-qualifies and pre-sells my clients so by the time they call me, they’re already interested and ready to setup a sampling or hire me to cater their party. I took what I would normally do in person, which is actually very hard to repeat over and over again, selling my clients via video and sales copy. This weeds out the curious and non-likely to buy without wasting my time and brings to me only those that are qualified buyers.
I get it, for some of you, you are what makes the sale. That’s great. In the long haul, if people buy from you because of you more than your product than you’re on the right track to having a longer lifespan of repeat customers loyal to you and your brand. The draw back to this is that when you get bigger and bigger you can’t maintain this level of in person selling. This is where you can make videos or have an interactive website that guides your clients them the same way you would in person to the leading of a sale. Interestingly enough, your closing rate remains the same using this method but if you compare the amount of closes from automating your business sales process to in person closes you’ll learn that automated business sales far outperform closes to in person closing because you are able to reach 100’s to 1,000’s+ more people than you would be able to by yourself. This is the secret of multiplying your self without the extra hard work.
Now even if you’re resistant to relinquishing your activities in selling, there are always little things that you can implement to semi-automate your business. In our Online/Offline Marketing Services & Our Content Creation Services, we create several sales automation processes for your business. One way to keep in constant contact with your clients and be in front of them on a regular basis is to provide monthly newsletters that share personal stories, fun trivia, news, and other attention grabbing items as well as new product offerings and services that you have. If you have a list of 1,000 customers or more this is a necessary element in the success of your business to automate the process of connecting with your customers without physically being there to connect with them.
